How It All Started
About Arthur Lem
Arthur Lem spent his time fishing and teaching countless children how to fish at the Kismet marina and ferry dock.
The First Derby
After Arthur's passing in 1997, his friends Bob and Ellen Ryan, Joyce and Larry Cole, Jack and Bobbi Baker thought the derby would be a great way for kids to learn the joys of fishing and also pay tribute to Arthur's legacy in Kismet.
Over the years, Warren and Lee Lem along with the the Kismet Fire Department Auxiliary and Kismet Community Association helped keep the event going.
Since 2021, Kai Sitone and Kim Sitone Harris have worked to grow the event into a large scale gathering of up and coming anglers! In 2025, the Finn family joined this amazing group to further assist with the Derby and keep the tradition going strong for years to come.

We ask all parents, guardians, and family members to help make the day safe and enjoyable for everyone.
Here is how you can help:
- Please be respectful and supportive of all participants, volunteers and the community.
- Help keep the Kismet marina clean.
- Support the sponsors by visiting their businesses.
- Please arrive on time for registration - 930am is registration.
Registration
Please pre-register each child using the form on this site.
On the day of the event, please check in at the registration tables between 930am and 10am.

Derby is 10am to 11:30am
Awards and raffle prizes at 11:30am
